Ilana creates a warm, nurturing, and interactive environment for her students, in which she offers the tools for effective and efficient home practice.  Her teaching style combines isolating particular techniques with seeing the big picture of the dynamics, phrasing, and overall impact of the music.  Her teaching experience began at the Usdan Center for Creative and Performing Arts, a summer camp on Long Island, where she worked from 2004 to 2009.  She assisted the viola section of the orchestras and taught two viola classes of 1 to 5 students from the ages of 9 to 12.  Since then, she has privately taught students with a wide range of abilities on both violin and viola.
